This week’s DeFi indices showed mixed movements, with the market capitalisation and volume indices increasing +13.15% and +66.30%, respectively, while the volatility index declined -20.51%.
- Chainlink (LINK) launched the CCIP v1.5 upgrade, which introduced a series of enhancements to its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) that increased the number of integrated tokens while simplifying the protocol for developers. The upgrade also introduced the CCIP Token Manager, an intuitive web interface that allows developers to deploy new Cross-Chain Tokens (CCTs) and manage existing ones.

Since its debut on 18 January, the TRUMP token recorded US$36 billion and $380 million in Solana’s decentralised exchanges (DEXes) and meme coin launchpad Moonshot, respectively, highlighting significant interest in the token by the crypto community.
News Highlights
- The Crypto.com App ranked first in the finance category of the Apple App Store in the US, according to data from AppFigures.
- The Ethereum Foundation established a new multi-signature wallet and allocated 50,000 ETH to bolster its decentralised finance (DeFi) ecosystem. This comes amidst key developments within the organisation, including a leadership restructure to improve communications and confirmation of the Pectra upgrade in March.
- Tether launched the USDT0 token on Ink, an Ethereum Layer-2 (L2) blockchain. The new stablecoin aims to facilitate the transfer of assets across blockchains built with LayerZero’s OFT standard while maintaining its 1:1 backing with USDT on Ethereum.
- Decentralised artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure provider Mira Network launched its testnet alongside several APIs to evaluate on-chain autonomous transactions. This launch offers developers and enterprises the chance to explore Mira Network’s APIs, which are designed to enhance reliability and reduce costs in AI outputs.
- Eliza Wakes Up announced a partnership with ai16z to create a physical robot embedded with advanced conversational AI, emotional intelligence, and physical capabilities. The android comes with a pre-order price of $420,000.
- Solana-based DEX aggregator Jupiter launched an airdrop checker, allowing users to view their eligibility ahead of the upcoming Jupuary airdrop. As part of the event, 700 million JUP tokens will be distributed to active members within its community, making it one of its largest airdrops to date.
- World Liberty Financial (WLFI) purchased over $100 million in cryptocurrencies before Trump’s inauguration, including $47 million of WBTC, $47 million of ETH, and $5.5 million of LINK.
